I know that you have been texting Kurtis and he has thanked you for all you did for him this summer, but I wanted to take a minute to thank you myself.
Kurtis really enjoyed coming to the gym... or the field...or the hill in the off season. He loved the workouts and he loved being with the guys. He liked talking to you and it was great how accessible and available you were to answer all of his questions.
It was with your program (both the workouts and the nutrition) and his hard work that he was able to make the Newmarket Hurricanes and later the Owen Sound Attack. We didn't expect him to be playing in the OHL this year, but it just goes to show you that if you want it bad enough, and if a little bit of luck and opportunity are on your side, you can accomplish great things.
It was Kurtis commitment to his fitness that he was able to develop at your gym this summer that made the difference for him in Owen Sound. All that running in the hottest weather certainly paid off. His shattering of that beep test was a contributing factor in him making that team. The general manager, assistant general manager, and coach were completely blown away with both the physical and mental toughness he displayed. They brought it up to me when we were meeting, they were quoted on it by the local paper in Newmarket, and they spoke about it again in regards to Kurtis specifically on the weekly television show in Owen Sound.
When people ask me about how and where Kurtis trained, I don't hesitate to recommend you and your gym and Kurtis does the same.
Thanks again, Randy. I'm sure that we will be seeing you again as soon as the season ends!
I had the pleasure of meeting Randy in 2002 when he took on the role of off-ice trainer for my hockey team, the Stouffville Spirit Jr. A., that was a big year in my life as I was getting interest of scouts from teams in the NCAA, OHL and NHL. I had realized there was a future ahead for me in hockey and Randy was there to show me skill can only take you so far. I began working out at Bodysmith and that's when I noticed the improvement in my game. Randy helped me gain a solid work ethic and the knowledge of how my off-ice training is a reflection of my noticeable improvement on the ice. This included a schedule of weight lifting for strength, quick feet and agility drills to improve my speed and balance and a series of sprints/dryland techniques for cardio and endurance. In addition to the daily workouts, Randy taught me the importance of nutrition. In order to go hard every day, a proper diet was necessary to keep a high energy level and build muscle mass.
Through the years Randy was not only a trainer but a good friend. For someone that is serious about training, Bodysmith gives you the atmosphere to get the maximum out of your workouts. I appreciate everything Randy has done for me and I will continue to tackle any workout regiment he throws at me for years to come.

I first met Randy at the age of 19 while playing for the Stouffville Spirit. At the time my knowledge of strength and conditioning was limited to say the least. I never realized how increasing my strength and bettering my conditioning could translate to better results on the ice. Randy's personality and his love for what he does is infectious. I quickly found myself very interested in the field of strength and conditioning. Like many kids when I began my university career I had little idea about which direction I should pursue academically. After seeing Randy's love and dedication to his craft first hand I was determined to complete a kinesiology degree. Having the ability to help people live healthier lives or take an athlete’s potential to the next level is something Randy takes very seriously and I wanted to experience the same satisfaction. Randy has helped me further my hockey career through my physical fitness not to mention rehab some very serious injuries that I have unfortunately encountered along the way.
Randy is always preaching hard work and his honesty and friendship are something that I value very much. I think any serious athlete is looking for any advantage they can gain over the competition, I consider Randy to be that advantage. The workouts and camaraderie I feel at Bodysmith are one of a kind and I am extremely thankful for all Randy has done for me. Ultimately, the decision to work hard must be made by the athlete but Randy has an incredible amount of knowledge and has had proven results with many athletes from all sports. You can't control how skilled you are but you can control your level of fitness. Randy has helped me achieve levels of physical fitness I didn't think possible and I will be forever grateful to him for all his help and encouragement.

To Whom it May Concern:
Hi my name is Daniel Spivak I currently play for the Jr. A Stouffville Spirit. When I first joined the team over a yea ago, it was there I met the teams Conditioning Coach Randy Smith. I still remember that first dryland session I had with him, where I was sweating buckets and working harder than I ever did before. He pushed me to limits that I never new existed. Yet, in the end isn't that what everyone wants? To be pushed to the limits... because that's the only way we can improve ourselves and trust me, he does just that.
Randy runs a very strong and intensive program that will push the limits of any athlete. He challenges you physically and mentally, whether you are at his gym working our, or outside on the field going through dryland training.
I remember when I was training for my minor midget year before the draft. Everyone was doing their own thing getting personal trainers and trying to be in top shape for the upcoming season. I myself have been to a lot of places and believe me when I say none of them even come close to Bodysmith. The professionalism that is shown by him and his staff is incredible. Randy is always changing the workouts making them more challenging every-time. He knows exactly what is needed to maximize an athletes potential in any sport he or she does.
Being it the first year that I have worked out with Bodysmith I have felt more confidant and in better shape then I ever was before, which showed when it came down to game time.
Overall, after training a Bodysmith, being in great shape, getting stronger mentally and physically were just some of the things I picked up while training while I was there.

Randy provides an edge that every elite athlete is looking for; with his help I was able to overcome an injury that required six months of inactivity. Upon returning to hockey I found that I was playing just as I was prior to the injury if not even better!

I have been attending Randy Smith's Personal Training for about 3 years now, and I owe much of my NCAA hockey success to the training he does, the kind of off-ice conditioning he does is sport related and therefore I was able to see the difference right away on the ice. Thanks for all your help Randy. I greatly appreciate it.

When I was first introduced to Bodysmith, my sons were at the right age to start a proper conditioning/strength program. With the level of hockey they were playing I knew it was important to build their strength to improve their skill as well as injury prevention.
At the age of 40 I knew I had to start taking my own health more seriously, I never had a weight problem but over the years I gradually put on a few pounds and I had been feeling less energetic. I approached Randy to start a program that would help me to obtain my goals. It had been just over a year now when I began working with Randy, not only have I reached my goals, I have learned so much about fitness and nutrition.
Now that hockey season is back, I am amazed at how much my sons have improved, their balance and strength is notably stronger. I can’t thank Bodysmith enough for the successes our family has achieved. More and more we are learning the importance of health and fitness to prevent injuries and diseases; this is a life long lifestyle, not just a temporary challenge.
Working with Randy and the rest of the staff at Bodysmith helped me achieve my goal of making it into the NHL. I started with Randy when I was 13 years old, and he got me started on the right track. As many people know, lifting weights at a young age can stunt your progress as an athlete, so I was lucky to have worked with a professional like Randy to get me started on the right path. Working on hockey specific body weight exercises such as sprints, agility work, box jumps, stair jumps etc., enabled me to gain an edge on my peers while preparing me for my future workouts as I got older. Randy’s 1 on 1 work with me kept me motivated and on task, while at the same time developing a friend- ship to keep things fun and comfortable. The one thing that kept me interested at such a young age was the variance in exercises. Many kids tend to get bored and antsy while working out, but Randy prevented that by constantly changing up the workload to make it challenging and fun at the same time.
I went on to work with Randy for 6 years, and I owe a lot of my successes as a hockey player to him. I was very fortunate to start at a young age and mature physically under his supervision. Not only were his workouts and nutritional programs great, we still have a very close friendship because of how much he cares for his clients.

Working out with Randy has helped me bring my physical fitness to a new high. I started working out hard with Randy after my final year of Junior "A" and I have put on 30lbs of muscle, but at the same time I have increased my explosiveness and aerobic capacity. Randy's approach to working out is a very rewarding one. Seeing the results makes it a fun and enjoyable experience. My dream is to one day play in the National Hockey League and I strongly feel that working out with Randy will help me realize that dream.

I am the head coach of the Markham-Stouffville Midget "AA" Girls hockey team. Our team can to "BODYSMITH" for the first time in October 2004.
After approximately 3 months of training with Randy, there was big improvement, by our players, in strength, quickness and endurance.
The players continued with the program, implemented by Randy, for the duration of the season. By the end of the season our team was recognized as one top 5 Midget "A" Girls hockey teams in the province of Ontario.
The coaches, parents & players were so impressed with the results that the players had made in training with Randy that our team has already booked a full year of training at BODYSMITH for the 2005 - 2006 season.
Thank you for teaching and training our players last season. I am really looking forward to having my team train with you again this season.
Markham - Stouffville Midget "AA" Head Coach (2004 - 2006)
Randy understands the importance of an intense and balanced program when training athletes for university competition. The program he devised for the McMaster Men's Volleyball program was sport-specific, which is always essential for attaining team success. Our athletes saw a dramatic improvement in muscle strength as well as endurance. Not only did Randy provide a great training program but included a full set of various speed and agility drills. He truly knows that an athlete's success is not only made up of what you do in the weight room but is also how you train those muscles to react.
Injuries are an unfortunate part of high level competition. For the few athletes that did experience injuries they surprisingly found their recovery time reduced. The preparation of the athlete's body due to Randy's program helped to keep their time on the sideline to a minimum.
Each athlete on Randy's program saw a marked improvement in strength, quickness, reaction time and endurance. The amount of work put forth by the athletes to complete each training session was also a factor in building team chemistry. The sessions were designed for elite competition and were always challenging and demanded the best from each player both in focus and effort. I believe Randy's extensive experience and knowledge allows him to tailor specific training programs for a team's maximum success.

Randy's professional knowledge and experience training elite athletes allowed him to fully understand the dynamics of my sport. He put together a customized training program that included running hills, weights, plyometrics and using the balance ball to strengthen my core muscles. His no-nonsense attitude and continuous encouragement motivated me to reach new levels in my sport and with my training - both physically and mentally. I have never worked out so hard in my life! The training was intense, but the results were profound! Not only was I in the best shape of my life, but my performance during competitions went from mid-ranking to consistently ranking in the top 10.
Training with Randy also gave me the courage to try new tricks. I knew my body had the strength and flexibility to recover from any hard falls. Randy takes a genuine interest in all of his athletes and is committed to their success, both from a training and performance perspective. I recommend Randy 110%.
He is a great trainer, coach and dear friend. I couldn't have done it without him!
Thank you Randy for all your support!

I've been training with Randy for three summers now, and every summer he has helped me a great deal to get ready for the upcoming hockey season.
Each summer I have gotten a lot stronger and a lot more conditioned thanks to Randy's workouts. His workouts also helped a lot with injury prevention since I have been fortunate not to have had many injuries during my three years with Stouffville. Each hockey season I have improved as a player thanks to Randy and this has helped me obtain a hockey scholarship to the Division I school Superior State.

Goaltenders don't play energy game so they have an even bigger challenge to stay fit and ready. Randy not only helps keep them at a competitive level, but he also motivates the athletes to adopt better conditioning habits. They want to work at it because they see the tremendous difference in their performance.
Once Randy started working with out players, we noticed a big change in their energy level and endurance. We saw them playing at a higher level earlier in the season and more consistently in each game.

We've got more jump that we used to have. Randy puts the team through one serious workout a week and one stretching session. By game-time, we're ready and I've noticed a big change in the energy I have later in the game. I'm looser and more flexible, too. The play is more intense.
