Why Choose BodySmith
Why Professional Sport Training? Why Randy Smith?

Drafted First Overall In The
2008 NHL Entry Draft
The elite athlete knows that his body is his career. It's the source of his livelihood. The commitment to physical and mental conditioning will promote the athlete's "star" ability and enhance their potential - both in performance and in earnings.

ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association) Certified Sports Trainer Randy Smith can show you how to enhance your performance, increase your stamina and build endurance in your personal sport.

With Smith on their team, the elite athlete and the fitness conscious benefit equally from his unique understanding of physical conditioning, training and performance!
The problem: uncoordinated training in a sport can develop the skills and strengths inherent in that sport-specific activity - while often times limiting the overall sport acuity.

The solution: professional training and nutritional guidance with a certified sport trainer.

Affectionately known as the "Iron Hand in the Velvet Glove", Smith knows how to push his clients towards excellence. With over 30 years of experience in physical fitness and nutrition, Randy is the former strength and conditioning coach of Steven Stamkos and Mike Del Zotto and now has been working as the strength and conditioning coach for John McFarland, who was recently the 33rd overall pick of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers. He is also the strength and conditioning coach for:
  • Gianluca Curcuruto, recently drafted 14th overall by the Soo Greyhounds in the 2010 OHL Draft
  • Scott Kosmachuk, recently drafted in the 2nd round by the Guelph Storm in the 2010 OHL Draft
  • Julian Melchiori, drafted in the 3rd round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft to the Atlanta Thrashers
  • Chris Tanev, who signed with the Vancouver Canucks in 2010
  • Simon Gysbers, who signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2010
But Smith goes further than the traditional trainer. He takes a holistic approach and treats what he calls "the whole body machine", fashioning a personalized sports training program that includes a nutritional assessment and optional interactive treatments with selected practitioners in chiropractic and massage therapy. Student athletes with the talent and the interest are steered into the Program, which helps to connect promising student athletes with the right U.S. college program to fit their athletic, academic and scholarship goals.

An All-Star Athlete in many sports himself, Smith has keen insight into body mechanics and musculo/skeletal balance. This depth of expertise sets him apart and above the majority of sports trainers.
